Managing our Website

Or helping out the club while learning something new!

Probus as you know has the theme “Friendship, Fellowship and Fun”. Well could you use a bit of all three in this time were finding ourselves in?

Our website is becoming an important way to keep us all informed. Currently only I update and maintains the website. I’d love if a few members could assist in some way. There are a few ways people could assist. You could

  • write an occassional article and publish it
  • monitor feedback and comments
  • research an itemn and provide something to be published
  • assist with adding and maintaing out photo library
  • take on a portfolio – such as the recipes, trips, proofreader or maybe facebook moderator.

I know a number of members has mentioned they were interested in learning how to make a website. Well here is a way to put your toe in.

Our site uses WordPress. WordPress was originally created as a blog-publishing system and is used by more than 60 million websites, including 33.6% of the top 10 million websites. WordPress is one of the most popular content management system solutions in use.

So learning to use WordPress is a good way to learn to make your own site.

So here is my offer!

Volunteer in some way to assist and I will teach you what you need to know. Of course I will offer full backup, you wont be just thrown straight in. We will have to use distance learning, but that too will be something new to learn. I will hold your hand (metaphorically) that is

What have you got to loose!

Just drop me a line in the comment below, give me a call, chat to me on facebook. Whatever it all helps and gives us all something else to do in this shut in time!
