On Friday 12th February a group of 20 members visited Lake Wendouree in Ballarat.
As with all well organised Ron Bell trips, the first stop is a cafe that offers Devonshire Tea. The lake is located next to The Ballarat Botanical Gardens. After our morning tea, we split up into two groups.
One group led by Nilda Escalante indulged in a casual tour of the gardens. Nilda used her wide knowledge of gardening to point out features of various plants and this particular garden.
A second group of adventurous members were led by Ron to walk the 7 kilometres circumference of the lake. The lake had an abundance of bird life and in particular many swans. There are many canoe clubs’ sheds and canoe trailers dotted around the lake.
After our adventurous walks it was time for lunch at “Racers”. After lunch a short walk was taken by many, for a peek at the many mansions in which the rich GOLD MINERS of earlier days had elected to display their wealth.
