Fyansford Paper Mill

The Fyansford Paper Mill, on the edge of the Barwon River just outside of Geelong, was constructed between 1876 to 1878 using local bluestone and brick, and comprises the original mill buildings, manager’s house, six workers’ cottages, a bluestone water race with impeller, tower and stone weir. Though it has not been in operation for many years, Australia’s oldest paper mill is a window into our past.

On Thursday 6 June, Rod and Sue from Rotary Club of Highton took members on an amazing tour of the Paper Mill and its history. The tour is highly recommended to anyone that missed out.

Lunch at the Fyansford Hotel topped off an excellent day for all.
